I'm usually afraid to buy quarter yards for that reason. I like how some quilt shops cut with a ruler and rotary cutter. Seems to work out better/straighter for the quilter. I'm kinda hyper so...Approaching a new project. I'm kinda hyper so I usually have at least a general sense of what I want and where I'm going. Maybe a rough sketch on some paper. Then I try to figure how to correct my math mistakes and boo boos. LOL But my favorite part is making blocks and then fooling around on my design wall. I also seem to have a limited attention span so fooling around makes for lots of options and choices til the deadline actually sends me into a flurry of sewing it together. I find I need lots of stimulous to keep me interested in the whole project or else I will start a new one. I actually have a lot of old ones.
