Catching up

A snow storm makes for lots of sewing time!
I haven't really had a day of sewing in months,
and yesterday was the day.

I was able to finally do the bee block for Mary.
She sent us all these great solids and told us to have fun,
make a monkey wrench block,
and there were really no parameters.
How fun is that!

I also finished the courthouse steps top
and pieced that back with some lovely Nicey Jane
fabric I got on sale!

I promptly realized that my new space doesn't have a good place to baste my quilts.
Well, maybe a smaller quilt, but not this one!
So it will be back to basting my quilts at the office
on my lunch hour, using the conference room.
i don't mind that so much really,
Everyone stops in to see what the heck I am doing,
and, well, quilters do love a reason to show off their latest creation!
This is the one that is going to Victoria's Basic Drive.
Do you have a quilt you could send?

I'll have more to show you in a couple of days . . .
I think I might have gotten my mojo back!

I'm back! And a cute little find . . .

It's good to be back to a routine of sorts.
I am completely unpacked in my new space,
and it feels so good to just sit and sew when I want to!

I have been working on my courthouse steps quilt.
It has been slow and steady, but now I am making good progress.

I have decided that this quilt is going to Victoria's Basics Quilt Drive.
I am calling it "Moving Day."  I started this quilt when I decided to move and now am finishing
when I'm done with the move.
Moving can be unsettling when it's your decision;
I can't imagine how moving would be when you aren't in control of it.

Victoria's quilt drive is about donating quilts to families that are
going into transitional housing until their permanent housing is ready.
I tremendous cause egged on by a tremendous woman!

Here is a little close up.
I need to find some outdoor space for pictures.
Now that I don't have a backyard . . .
I need to get comfortable photographing things in public spaces.
Could be fun.  Will probably meet some new friends!

Here is my new cozy sewing space in the corner of my living room.

It works just fine.  Everything can be hidden away for those wild
parties I plan to have.  Hahaha.

And here is the cute little find!
Three or four weeks ago I was cruising my favorite blogs,
I thought this would be perfect for my moving adventure.
My new place has very tight security, and you have to swipe "the fob" through most doors
to get where you are going.  It worked beautifully for moving and carrying things in.
I still use it because I can find it in my Mary Poppins purse with great ease.

Check it out.

So what are you doing on this beautiful Sunday?
Have you found anything fun that makes your life easier??

And we have a winner!

This being my first giving away, I thought I would do something different,
I picked out tiles from my domino set for the numbers. (No 10 as Mary didn't want to be included)
That took longer than I thought.  I think I need my coffee and a seven year old to do this quickly!

So after making sure I had the right numbers  . . .

I flipped them over, spun them around,
and picked a winner!!

Number 3!!  Happy Cottage Quilter!
I'll be sending you an email shorting to get your mailing info.

Thank you so much for sharing the changes in your life with me.
Change is never easy, but if we face it with an open heart, I think we can deal with it
and move on as best we can.
You are all truly amazing women!

100th Post, One Year Anniversary, So There Must Be A Giveway!

So many things can change in a year!
I can't believe I have been blogging for a year
and this is my 100th post.
It has been a wonderful year with so many changes and surprises.
I guess the main thing I have taken away from all of these changes,
is that you have to go with the flow and accept
everything that happens as best you can.

So in the spirit of the blogging world . . .
Here is my giveaway!

I have a pack of 13 fat quarters in sherbet colors,
2 yards of pink and 1 yard of blue.

I bought this a while ago for a baby quilt  . . . .
And well you know how that goes!
I don't even know the name of the fabric line, there is nothing in the selvage,
but it did come from a very nice quilt shop.

But while I was cleaning out for the move, I decided this would make the perfect giveaway!

So here's what you have to do.

Leave me a comment and tell me what was the biggest change in your life this year,
and how did you handle it.
I will pick a winner on Friday afternoon.
Please have an email address attached to your profile so I can contact you.

Here's to change!

NYC Metro Mod Guild Meeting

Yesterday was our Metro Mod Guild meeting
and we were so lucky to have Kathy Miller of Michael Miller Fabrics with us!
Christine Osmers was also with Kathy and they were showing us the latest
things coming out at the up coming Quilt Market.

Kathy is so nice and I actually met her years ago when she lived in my town!
They brought their new solids fabric line for us to sample.
We each got a solid and a print.  So fun! The solids are so soft,
can't wait to get my hands on the 85 different colors!

Here are Nicole's bee blocks from September.
She did Dresden Plates or Wagon wheels.
And David's blocks from August, centered on 41,
his age this year.  This is my first Bee, but I am loving it!
So wonderful to see all the different ideas we come up with.
And here is the lovely Victoria in her vintage cotton dress,
That she says she won't wear out of the house, but really I think
it's adorable and with leggings and some cute boots,
she could start a trend!
One of our newest members showing off her
"Keep the bogeyman away quilt"
It was adorable with lots of fussy cut eyes to keep watch.
All in all it was a great day together!
So fun to catch up with everyone and have a few laughs.
See what everyone is up to, and just see all those smiling faces!
What could be better than laughing women and fabric??
I tell you, I live for these get togethers!
Hope you are enjoying your weekend.
