This and that . . . .

I haven't been home for a whole weekend in ages!
What a luxury to sleep in and linger in bed . . .
My favorite thing to do.

Once I hauled myself out and had my coffee and breaky,
I looked around and surveyed what needed to be done.

My sewing corner, a mess, needed to be cleaned up and organized.

It went quicker than I thought.
I am having my first private sewing lesson tomorrow with a lovely
girl who wants to learn how to quilt!
I am over the moon!  So I want everything to be clean and easy for her.

I also got this lovely card and note from Kandy.
I joined the IG #quiltypenpal group and this is my first connection.
So fun!  Now what will I send to her?

Then it was off to Christie's to drop off my featherweight for service.
That's all I intended to do . . . .
Then I saw this . . . .

And a bit of Denyse Schmidt too.

A very cute little bath tub full of fabric

Christie and Garen egging me on!

I had no chance.  Hehe.
I bought a lot.  They said it was okay.  Enablers!

So on this rainy day, I came home and worked on this,

A bit of chevrons . . .

And a new project . . .
Dresden flowers for a friendship garden quilt.

My friends are sending me their flowers.
I can't wait to build my garden!

So Much Fun! Christie's Quilting Boutique!

Today is the 6 month anniversary of the opening

And yes this girl knows how to party!
Jennifer Paganelli and Kate Spain were in the house.
How fun are these three!
I met Kate for the first time today and she is so lovely. Great energy!
Jennifer is fun, fun, fun! Lights up the room.
And Christie, well, you know how I feel about this little go-getter!
Hehehe.

Kate's new fabric line is coming out in September.
She got her inspiration from sea glass.
I told her those were mermaid colors!
Any way you cut it they are fabulous.
And we each got a sample pack of these little beauties.
Yes I am hoarding.

Christie has a whole section devoted to these two dynamos!
You can buy yardage, and precuts.
Hard to decide . . . .

Here is the lady herself showing off a quilt.

And working the cutting table!
It's blurry because she is never still!

Edgar and the girls!

Here is my take for the day.
I had to restrain, I'm on a fabric diet.
Gross!  No fun!
Clearly, I cheat!

And here is what I'm working on . . .

A very tiny doll quilt for my buddy's b-day
that was a month ago.
and so it goes . . . .

Focus . . .

Focus!
I have none.
Nada, not an ounce.
Not a drop.

Does that ever happen to you?

Usually I'm pretty good, I can stay on task for the most part.

But lately . . .
I am all over the map!

I started cutting a new quilt a few weeks ago.
I need to hang a huge piece of batting on the wall so I can lay it out
and sewing it properly.
Okay, skip to the next then . . . .

I got sucked into Pat Sloan's quilt along.
Don't know why, just thought it would be fun.
I love a mystery quilt.  Hehe.

Made this a few weeks ago.
I had a bunch of made fabric laying around, so I just did it.

Then I thought a medallion quilt,
so I started making a few of these to go with it.
Yup made three and moved on.

Wanted to try this x and + block,
ended up making 13 . . .
(Maybe all of that can become a quilt together!)

Have a swap quilt to make that needs to be done soon.
I know what I'm going to do, now to just do it!

And these little lovelies arrived on my step this week too.

Aren't they fun?
Seahorse scissors for the redheaded mermaid!

So there you have it.
All over the map.
No focus.

Maybe that should have been my word for 2014!

Check out all the other words by quilters over here.

Too Much Fun!

I have been looking forward to today's festivities for weeks . . .
My two buddies came up from "the city" to sew with me!

David brought some fabulous Dresden Plates that he was given.
He proceeded to throw them up on a quilt that hangs in my kitchen.

They just dissolved into my quilt!
How fun is that!!
You haven't seen this quilt before, because it's going to be in a book.

But, I decided what the heck!
It's out there now, I'll give you a peek.
I'll do a full post on it's birth in a week or two . . . .

These are the fabulous 100% polyester Dresden Plates.
All hand sewn.
David gave us each one to finish off and give back to him.
Are those my colors or what???

My great buddy Earamichia came up Saturday night
for some pre-game shenanigans, and boy did we have fun!
Alas, what happens in the Penthouse, stays in the Penthouse.

Here she is giving my new Juki a few fine tunings.
Nice to have a pro around to show me the ropes on my new darling.

David made him self at home, pondering what he would work on . . .
He also kept us in "stitches," he is a very funny guy!

E. layered two quilts!!!

I worked on my new baby quilt.

The mimosa's were poured.

The patterns came out.

E. made great progress on her DWR challenge;
Have you started yours yet?
Deadline is December 1st!

One of E's layered quilts.
Don't  you love it!

David worked on his DWR challenge too.
He spent alot of time in that chair!
Hehe.  He would never cut it in a real sweat shop!

I finished the top on my baby quilt.
The block is from the Aurifil Block of the Month series.

I couldn't wait to jump on David's Dresden Challenge.
I love it!

So there you have it.
The most fun!
Sewing with buddies.
Laughing all day.

What did you so this weekend?
