Quilts and Color at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston

On Friday I was so lucky to be in Boston to see this quilt show!

These two smart gentlemen started collecting quilts in the 1960's.

Here are a few of my faves.
I won't post them all, don't want to spoil it completely
for you if you get to attend!
And you should definitely go if you can!

These quilts range in age from the late 1800's to early 1900's.
What I love about them is the unexpected colors and combinations,
especially considering the time frame in which they were created.
They look very "modern" or of this present day time to me.
Renegades of their time period for sure!

A weekend filled with quilty fun!

This was a fabulous weekend for quilty adventures!

Saturday we held our NYC Metro Mod meeting,
and as always, it was filled with laughter, eye candy, and tons of great friends!

But . . . I don't have a lot of pictures for you because I was so involved!
I am starting to feel like documenting everything keeps me from enjoying everything!
What do you think?

Here are three group quilts we are raffling off at our next meeting.
I love them all!
And . . . I was lucky enough to get to bring them home until the next meeting!
Yes, I am snuggling under them, and fondling them.
The chances of winning one are slim,
so I am thrilled to have them while I can!

We were so honored to have Rachel May in the house!
She has written the book,
Rachel gave a talk about her work and
showed this quilt she made.
She is a doll!  If you get the chance to go to one of her talks,
jump on it!

My Board of Directors working the hand sewing!
I love this . . .  and them!
Happy little minions.
Was missing my David and Andrea HM.

Sunday brought a new kind of fun!
Rachel had organized a quilt panel at City Quilter.
Five of us interviewed and featured in her book were asked to
speak and show our quilts.
This was the most fun ever!

Here is the whole group.
Jan, the kid, me, Rayna, Victoria and Rachel.
The audience was fabulous!  So interested and enthusiastic!
I love this quilting community.  We are so supportive of each other.

And here is my new best friend!
Patrizia! (did I spell that right?)
She is from Brisbane, and attended with some friends and her daughter.
(Who she is trying to get to sew, but her daughter loves music)  Hehe.

Patrizia said:  "I want to make a quilt with black, grey and saffron
and a pop of turquoise.  That girl is wearing my quilt!"

Hehehe,  That's me wearing her quilt, well her colors anyway.

Patrizia, I didn't get your contact info!
Please message me or leave a comment so that I may be in contact with you!
As I have said.  Love this quilty world!

Brooklyn Quilt Show

More on that tomorrow, but after the meeting
we headed to Brooklyn to see the Brooklyn Quilt Show!
This is a photo dump post.
Eye Candy.
Yum!

Vortex by my new VP Bernadette!
She rocks!

 And here we are . . .
a couple of Mods at the fair . . .
Somehow Emily is wearing two of my favorite colors.
purple and lime green! Hehehe.
