Quilting with a Modern Slant . . . and a giveaway!

A great new quilting book came out a couple weeks ago . . .

We were so lucky to be invited to the book reception on Cambridge, MA
last Friday night at a fun little place called Gather Here.

AND, we got to meet Rachel in person!

The place is adorable, an old library card catalog for buttons,

Liberty fabric, tons of yarn, fabric, heaven!

Cozy nooks everywhere.

But the most fun was meeting Rachel and her friends.
Such great energy that night!
Everyone so excited about her new book.

This little lovely was hanging over the table where Rachel was signing books.
Naughty!  And I want to make one.

But here is the most fun for me and the kid!
We are included in the book.
How fun is that??
The book has some of the most wonderful quilters and designers in it,
and to be included just blows my mind!

We made the evening a family affair with my aunt and cousins.

So in honor of this honor,
I am giving away a copy of the book.
You will just love it!

Leave a comment here telling me your favorite quilt block or color,
and I will pick a winner on Sunday, February 16th.

  1. Beautiful book...my favorite quilt block is the nine-patch, and most of my quilts have some red or black in them so I guess those must be my favorite colors.

  7. Great giveaway! I'm on a fabric diet, so I'm into making any block that uses up my scraps. Of course, I have tons of FQ's and yardage too. I recently make an uneven coin block for a bee member. It went together so easily with no real measuring. I really like black and white with fuchsia.

  16. I love that quilt that was hanging over the table. ;-) Not sure I have a favorite block, since I love improv. I do seem to collect a lot of blue fabrics, so I guess blue is my favorite color.

  17. The book looks really great! If I had to choose a favorite block, it would probably be a log cabin because there is so much you can do with it. Hmmm favorite color? All colors - but maybe not so much of a brown fan :)
PS - I love the quilt that is featured for you! I could look at it for a long time!

  23. It looks like great book, and your quilt is magnificent. My favorite block at the moment is Dresden plate. I'm quite scared of it though. I'm also thinking of making a New York beauty - a first venture into foundation piecing.
